Eating out locally in the evening isn't a problem as there are numerous ristoranti, trattorie, osterie, pizzerie and agriturismi (country restaurants). Emilia Romagna is famous for its cuisine (perhaps the best in Italy) - the only thing you will never find in an Italian restaurant is 'spaghetti bolognese' as it doesn't exist! The nearest thing to it is what is called spaghetti al ragu' and is worth trying. Dinner prices in the local establishments start at about 15 euros but never costs much more than 20, including wine. We will be happy to suggest local restaurants if you've got something particular in mind.

Balsamic Vinegar

Balsamic vinegar belongs to Modena's ancient traditions. For centuries the production of balsamic vinegar, in the dry attics of private homes, passed on from generation to generation, was the prerogative of all families for their own personal use or at the most to be offered as special and most appreciated gift. The traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena stands out for its colour, density, fragrance and flavour which are the result of a period of ageing that can range from 12 to 25 years and more. A visit to a Balsamic Vinegar producer can be arranged at the local town of Spilamberto.

Cherries

Over the last century, the area around Vignola has become one of Europe’s largest cherry producers due to the excellent climatic conditions and the quality of the soil - the area for the cherry orchards covers 2000 hectares covering 80% of the national production.

The Seaside!

It is very easy to get to the Adriatic coast from Ca Gioiosa as you just have to get onto the motorway and take off towards Ancona, after about one hours drive you will get to the beaches near Ravenna and Cesena. These beaches are very safe and wide and the water doesn't get deep for a few hundred yards from the coast. No tides and very few waves during normal summer weather so perhaps not the best thing for surfers but perfect for children.

Campanino Golf Club

For golf amateurs the Campanino Golf Club is only 5 minutes away - a new and very friendly club with 4 holes. Cà Gioiosa guests are very welcome and can even borrow clubs etc... (ID must be shown and membership of a UK or US club).
Cost per person per day: €20
