As mentioned previously we can lend you a wide selection of guide books and maps for visiting all the towns in this area.
Take a trip to visit the Ferrari museum and Gallery at Maranello (25kms) open every day from 9am until 6pm. If you are passionate about cars you could also go to Sant Agata Bolognese and visit the Lamborghini factory and Museum. This will need booking as will a visit to the Ducati factory and museum in Bologna.
Spilamberto (10kms) is home to Balsamic Vinegar (and not Modena as most people think). Here you can visit the official Balsamic Vinegar museum and do a tasting (4 euros)... really worthwhile.
How about a visit to a Parmesan cheese producer? Fiona can arrange that for you and will accompany you to do the translating: it takes about an hour and is local to Cà Gioiosa.
During the summer there is an extensive agenda of musical evenings in the nearby villages and towns for the locals but any foreign tourists would be made extremely welcome!
For the golfers, there is a 9 hole golf course in Monteveglio and they are very happy to have guest players for the day at a reasonable charge. We can arrange horse riding too with a few days notice.
Most towns have public outdoor swimming pools with garden areas for sunbathing and there are also a few private swimming pool complexes in the area for an alternative day out. The nearest beaches are about 100kms away on the Adriatic Coast. You can also swim at Lake Garda from any of the beaches there.
