Introduction

Cà Gioiosa is situated half way between Bologna and Modena in the foothills of the Apennine Mountains.

Off the beaten track and wonderful for those seeking a peaceful base from which to explore this area and its' amazing natural beauty, culture and cuisine. Day trips to Venice, Florence, Verona, Lake Garda, Ravenna, Padua, Mantua, Ferrara, San Marino, Parma. Lucca and Pisa are a must and all within a couple of hours drive from Ca Gioiosa, not to mention the many smaller villages and towns scattered around the rolling hills of Emilia Romagna. You'll have so much to do and see and we will do our best to point you in the right direction!

At Cà Gioiosa we provide our guests with 3 en-suite bedrooms and a lounge/kitchen area. Whether you are staying for a week or a month or more our aim is to make you feel special. Living on site allows us to meet your needs and help you to make the most of our knowledge of the area. We want you to feel at home and relaxed and to make the most of your holiday in this beautiful country.

Getting to Cà Gioiosa

Cà Gioiosa is just 30 minutes drive from Bologna International Airport ( 26kms). All the major car rental companies can be found there and a car is essential when staying with us .

Ryanair operates flights into Bologna from Gatwick, Stansted, Edinburgh and Dublin and British Airways Flys into Bologna from Gatwick too, several times a day. Bergamo airport is just over 2 hours drive away as are Pisa and Venice airports. During the warmer months there are several Ryanair flights from smaller airports in the UK arriving at Rimini Airport which is about an 1 hour and a ½ away. Also during the summer there are some rail/drive trains from Germany and France coming into Bologna train station.

If you are travelling to Cà Gioiosa by car from the North on the A1 autostrada your nearest exit is Modena Sud. If you are travelling from the South or from the East it is Casalecchio di Reno.

Your hosts

Fiona is your "landlady" or hostess.

Born in Yorkshire a little over 50 years ago, she has lived in Italy for 24 years and previously to that was in France for 11 years. She speaks French, Italian and English. Elisa is Fiona's daughter (aged 23) and Francesco her son (18) and both are still living at home (more or less!). Fiona has an elder son, Sacha, who lives and works in Ferrara and 2 grandchildren Zoe and Leo (8 and 7).

Clò is Elisa's English cocker spaniel and the house mascot. Elisa also has a beautiful black Murgese horse (Vicky) in livery in Monteveglio. There are two "working" cats, Choco and Kitty, who live outside only.
